Dunshaughlin Self-Catering Cottages is an excellent base for touring Meath, Dublin, Kildare and Wicklow. County Meath is one of the most historic regions in Ireland with many ancient monuments. The Boyne Valley alone hosts the Neolithic passage tombs of Newgrange, Knowth, Dowth and Loughcrew. The early Christian site at the Hill of Slane is less than 30 minutes away.
The Hill of Tara is approximately 6kms from the cottages. Trim, a heritage town, is twenty minutes away. This town has the finest example of an Anglo-Norman castle along the River Boyne which runs through the town of Trim.
The village of Dunshaughlin is 2kms from Dunshaughlin Self Catering Cottages. The village is well served with supermarkets, banks, a post office, pharmacies, boutiques, restaurants and pubs.
There are a variety of beauty therapists and hairdressers in the village.

There are regular buses from Dunshaughlin to Dublin. Dunshaughlin Bus is ‘109’ and the Bus from the Airport to Dunshaughlin is 109A.

Enjoy visiting Grove Gardens in Kells, Larchill Arcadian Gardens, Kilcock; Loughcrew Gardens Oldcastle.
Golfing in Meath
There are many golf courses nearby and the cottages overlook Black Bush 27 hole golf course. You can arrange Tee times at Ashbourne, Royal Tara, Trim, Navan and Headfort. All these courses are within 30 minutes drive.
The 2011 home of The Ladies Solheim Cup, Killeen Castle Golf Club is 6 kms from the cottages.
Pitch and Putt is available at Dunshaughlin, Rathfeigh or Ratoath.
Take a Forest Walk at Dalgan Park, Kingscourt or Donadea.
Indoor Swimming Pools at Coolmine, Trim and Navan. The National Aquatic Centre is off the M3 at Blanchardstown. Bettystown, south of Drogheda, has a beautiful beach for strolling and swimming.
There is a fun park at Tayto Farm Park, Ashbourne.
Play Park in Dunshaughlin Village and in Ratoath.
Dublin Zoo is a great day out for all the family, situated in Dublin’s Phoenix Park.
Horse Racing in Meath
Horse Racing at Fairyhouse, Navan, Bellewstown, Laytown – all in County Meath. The tracks at Punchestown, the Curragh and Naas are less than 1 hour away.
Tattersall’s Horse Sales
Tattersalls Horse Sales Complex is 5 minutes away by car. In 1766 Richard Tattersall founded the world’s first bloodstock auction house. Today, Tattersall’s is an international firm. They offer thousands of horses at sales in Newmarket in Britain and at Fairyhouse in Ireland.
The Company sell top class National Hunt horses in which it continues to lead the field. Our cottages are close to Tattersalls Sales Complex. Here, there are sales events held year-in, year-out. The famous Derby Sale takes place at the end of June. We recommend our cottages for short stays during these sales events.
